"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr.
Although a new furnace installation is an interior change to a homeowner’s property, each furnace must have one or more vents to the outside, installed into the exterior building wall. The location and type of these vents must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) before work can begin on a furnace installation.
A new furnace may be one of several types: regular or high efficiency, electric or natural gas. Each of these types requires a different kind of exterior vent. Your contractor or furnace installation expert will be able to determine which is correct. Please keep in mind that the vents must be located according to code (above the snow line—at least 12 inches above ground) and painted to match the building. Approval for these vents is required before installation work can begin.
Home owners who wish to install a new furnace and seek approval for the exterior vents should submit a Property Modification Request to Property Management before beginning any work.
If you have any questions, please contact Property Management.
