"We might think we are nurturing our garden, but of course it's our garden that is really nurturing us." ― Jenny Uglow
The Community Garden at Ledgewood Hills provides 10 garden plots within a Victory Garden-style garden. The Community Garden is located in the upper park. Each garden plot measures approximately 8 x 10 feet.
Reporting to the Ledgewood Hills Board of Directors, the Ledgewood Community Garden Committee has overall responsibility for management and overall maintenance of the Community Garden.
Ledgewood Hills residents can enjoy an available garden plot in the Community Garden. Plots are limited to one plot per unit.
Requests to participate in the Community Garden should be submitted to Property Management via email message. Please be sure to provide your Ledgewood mailing address and an email address.
Should any plots remain unassigned, they may be applied for by current plot holders through the Garden Committee for use on a seasonal basis and be surrendered for reassignment at the end of the harvest season.
Current Community Garden plot assignee's will have preference for the continued use of their assigned plots for following years. Each gardener will be asked by February each year if they intend to plant that year. If not, plots will be offered to the next gardener on the wait list. Gardeners who do not plant a garden in their assigned plot by June 15th of the current year, will give up the assigned plot and it will be offered to the next gardener on the waitlist.
A. No pets are allowed in the garden.
B. Gardeners may only harvest their own crops unless given permission by another plot gardener.
C. Gardeners will make every attempt to ensure their crops do not infringe on an adjacent plot.
D. Gardeners will do their best to keep weeds under control.
E. Gardeners will be responsible for cleaning/clearing their assigned plot at the end of the growing season. Carry-over crops will be allowed; however, the overall appearance of the plot must be clean.
F. If a gardener must abandon a plot during the growing season, the Community Garden Committee must be notified as soon as possible. Upon notification, the plot will be offered to the first resident on the waitlist.
G. Each gardener will pay a usage fee by April 1st each year to contribute to the cost of the water and overall maintenance of the garden. This fee is non-refundable. This usage fee is subject to review by the Board of Directors. From time to time, there may be additional shared garden expenses such as related to hose replacement.
